Keith Urban and Rhubarb Pie

One of the things most people don't know about me is that I was raised on rhubarb, rhubarb sauce, rhubarb pie, rhubarb muffins, rhubarb cake.....You get my drift.  I LOVE rhubarb, especially pie.  I don't know why but over the years people started adding strawberries to it🍓.  Strawberry rhubarb pie. Yuck!

Another thing some people don't know about me is that I love country music.🎸🎶  Rascal Flatts is my favorite group.  Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban are among my favorite single acts.

Now, aren't you glad you have this intimate knowledge about me?  I thought you might😊  Perhaps you are wondering or thinking, "ok, where's she going with this?"  Please allow me to unfold my story.....

I am not so happy about being confined to my home, albeit I understand the importance, at least for right now, of doing so.  One day I was feeling particularly antsy and unhappy.  So, I prayed about it.  I decided to check out Facebook, only to find that Keith Urban and his wife were doing a live Facebook concert from their home.   I was ecstatic!  Keith sang his new song, "When God Whispered Your Name".  It brought me back to the time when God whispered the name Jesus to me when I felt down and out.  That whisper started a whole new life for me, one that included a personal relationship with God's Son.  Now I was feeling better.

Right at the end of Keith's concert, there was a loud knock on my door.  I opened it to find a neighbor standing there.  He said "we've bought pies for everyone" and handed me a bag with a pie in it.  I didn't know what to say except thank you.  I took my pie into the kitchen and decided to take a look at it.  What I saw brought tears to my eyes.  Guess what kind of pie it was?  Go ahead, guess.  Come on....guess!  Yes, it was straight up rhubarb pie with NO strawberries!!

Jesus provided me with two of my favorite things to enjoy that day.  Perhaps you are having a difficult time with social distancing, not being able to see your family and friends, not being able to go to a restaurant.  Basically, feeling sorry and blue.  If we (you and I) will just focus on who Jesus is and what He's done for us, He will bring your joy back to you.  Maybe not Keith Urban or rhubarb pie, but something that will help you focus on the good things He has done for you.

This is the end of my story, at least for now.  So, I will say goodbye and go finish that last piece of pie.
